I decided to take the kids on a little adventure to Mt. Evans.
It is the only "14er" that you can drive to the top. I thought
that it would be a lot of fun, until I started driving up and up
and up and up. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
I was white fisting the steering wheel. I was so scared. The
road was just getting more and more narrow. If a car was
coming at you I felt like you were scraping sides. And there
are no side rails. Just shear drop offs. You go over and you're
dead. I even found myself leaning to the right like I was helping
the car stay on the road. I was so scared. But we made it. The
kids thought it was really cool. I love this picture that Sadie
took of Jaxon looking out the window. What a sight.
on the side of the road. I started cursing. What are you
doing? There were a dozen or so goats on the hill, that they
had stopped to take pictures of. It was cool, but stay in your
car and don't stop drivning. You are causing a traffic jam.
It became one lane traffic. Some of the goats got scared and
ran down onto the road and then they were walking right by
us. IT was pretty cool. Sadie was taking these pictures right
lookout points. But then you have to hike a small trail to
get to the top. I was already feeling the effects of the altitude
and Ruby was totally freaked out so Sadie took the other kids
What a day. Cory does not want to experience this. So
We probably won't go back. Although I was much more
calm going down.
