Merry Texmas

This was the year for Christmas in Texas. So we left as soon as
school got out and drove our 13 hours to Mimi and Papas.
The next day was Sunday and my mom had Cory and Sadie
singing in the Choir and the boys sang with the primary.
We spent several days there doing what we like best:
Hard 8 BBQ

Harmony Ranch ( they even had baby longhorns this time)

a fun museum. see max going in for the big POP

Then we drove another 5 hours and made our way to
Fred and Diane's house. WE were super excited to spend
Christmas with them at their house. While we were there
we saw an Aircraft Carrier.

The beach

Oh how the kids wanted to eat the Gingerbread houses.

Christmas Eve was amazing. Fred and Diane had many people
over to fill their home with much love. The kids acting out the
Nativity.

The girls doing what they do best, Laying in bed playing on their
DS's.

Diane made us the cutest shirts for Christmas.
ON the front they said, Merry Texmas.
on the back they said, Ya'll come back now ya hear!
That is my very favorite Texas saying. Growing up
my cousins would say that EVERY time we left Texas.

We gave my mom a netbook for Christmas. She is Skyping with
Jonny who is in Iraq. This is her very first experience with the
computer adjusting very well.

The boys got rollerblades for Christmas and were in Heaven.

Next, Fred took us on base to show where he works. He is an
instructor right now and this is the plane that the pilots first
learn to fly. My boys loved it. I think Sadie did too, but she
has to maintain some level of coolness and not show too much
emotion. The kids all got to sit in the airplane and Fred told them
all about the many gadgets and some of his flying experiences.

WATCH OUT!!!!!

After Christmas was all over we all ventured up to New Braunfels.
My parents have a timeshare and so we went up there to explore.
There are lots of small towns with lots of fun little boutique shops.
So the girls all had a great time, the kids not so much. We also spent
one day at the most amazing outlets ever. Eveytime we go to Texas
we wish we could so shopping there. ONe day is not enough time
to shop there. Especially when you have children. We also took in a
movie and the 2 little ones went to a cute childrens museum.

We also went swimming. Yes, SWIMMING.

Those are my boys diving into the water.

The sad part was when we had to say Goodbye.

We love you guys so much.

We went back up to my parents house and
celebrated New Years

with some crazy confetti guns and a show produced by Sadie

And a puzzle. I loved it everyone helped and contributed and
felt successful.

We got up the next morning at 5 and drove our 13 hours home.
Whew. just in time for school to start.

so you'll never believe this, but i'm crying. i cried seeing your mom and dad. i cried at mom skyping with johnny. i cried to see how big fred and diane's daughter is now. i cried because fred looks just like johnny and i love them. i cried to see what a great time you had and how happy you are.

also, i cried when i saw fred in a cowboy hat, but that was mostly a painful cry, not a sweet, sentimental cry.

I love all the pics, makes me so sad we weren't there. And also a little tired to think of everything you did in such a short time. I also love Andrea, and how she totally sums up how I feel as well about our family.

Andrea - thank you for your sympathy!!!! At least we are now living in Texas and it is not so much out of place to wear cowboy stuff:) Tiffany - we LOVED having you all here - your family were troopers being gone for so long and in so many different places.... Glad we were one of the stops - Jenny - I really missed not having you here!! It seems like out of all the Volcanseks, except for my hubby, you love Texas the most - hopefully we can all get together next summer - Abby needs some Aunt Jenny time!! Love you all....
