US OPEN 2010 Pebble Beach

As soon as Cory heard that the US Open was in Pebble Beach
he asked my friend, Amy, if we could stay in her family's house
that week. This was a good year and a half ago when he started
putting his plans together. The next thing he did was sign up
to be a volunteer. Fast forward a year and a half and we were
in Sunny, I mean cold and cloudy, California.

We had quite the plan, my parents were supposed to come
up and watch my kids for the week and everyone was very
excited. Until my dad unexpectedly had to have triple heart
bypass. My stress level went through the roof. My dad's surgery
went great and he is doing very well. But now I am left without a
babysitter. My sister and sister in laws are so awesome and really
helped us out. My children had an awesome week.
Our first day there we spent in San Francisco, which obviously
means a stop at Ghiradelli Square. Then it was off to Carmel.
The next day Cory and his dad Craig were off to the Open bright
and early. We had to drop them off and then they had to walk
a long walk in, but it was better than driving 20 minutes to the
shuttle and then driving back 20 minutes on the shuttle. They
had their very awesome uniforms to wear. Craig marshaled the
18th hole everyday and Cory marshaled different spots. The first
day he was on the first hole, the second day the driving range
and the third day he was on the 17th hole. Their first day was
just the practice round and then the second and third day was
the first part of the tournament.
We had a great time going with Craig and Lisa. While the
boys were at the golf course we would shop and walk around
town looking at all of the cute quaint cottages.
One day we took turns wearing the passes and going on to
the course. It is absolutely amazing. This is one of the most
beautiful places in the world.
Of course I had to get a shot of Tiger. I was quietly booing
him. It was crazy to see all of the people following him from
hole to hole.

The other thing that we did all week was EAT!!! Talk about
good food. WOW...... Meal after meal was a euphoric experience.
In the 1920's, A man by the name of Hugh Comstock started
building houses for his wife and others to look like little
doll houses. Lisa and I walked the streets looking for these
houses. This is what inspired the look and feel of Carmel.
The houses in Carmel don't have street numbers only names.
Through this fence is Hansel and Gretel the first 2 houses
built by Comstock. OF course Lisa and I helped ourselves
right through this fence to take pictures of the houses up close
and personal. But this is the feeling of this whole town. So
quaint and beautiful. Your not allowed to cut down trees
and so houses and even streets are built around the trees.
We took a little walk around point lobos which is absolutely
beautiful.

Thanks Amy for helping this dream become a reality. It was
an amazing vacation!!
