BREAKTHROUGH!!!

A cute picture of Max and Katie on his Birthday

I think today we have finally reached a breakthrough.   I have been potty training Max for a week now and today just barely today did he say for the very first time "I think I have to go potty"  and he has said it twice today.  Both times resulting in something very positive, something in the potty.  I was really starting to second guess if he was really ready because I am forcing him to the potty every couple of hours.  The most amazing part of all of this is that one of these times was to go poop.  This has been our biggest issue.  (IF you have a queazy stomach you might not want to read this.)  Max has a little problem going #2.  He has diarrhea a lot.  A LOT.  We have tried not to give him milk and it doesn't seem to make a difference and when I talked to my dr. about it he wasn't too concerned.  So I hadn't been, until now, when I am trying to get him to go in the potty and he is having a REALLY hard time.  There is no consistency (sorry for the pun) to his routine. So I have a hard time getting him on  the potty in time.  Needless to say there have been daily and twice daily clean ups and they are messy.  He hasn't even minded helping me with the clean up.  So I have been thinking that it is time to stop, but he actually refuses to wear anything but underwear.  So I have felt like I should keep trying.  And what do you know today I have a sliver of hope that overtime he might actually be potty trained.  WAHOOOOO!!!!!   I am very excited.

Hey, I found your blog through Amy and Steffans! I cannot believe how big your family has gotten (both in number and how big the kids are!). It's so great to catch up on what's going on in the world of the Thorntons! Sounds like you guys are doing great!

I'm a friend of Andrea's and you don;t know me and I really have no place commenting here. But give the kid milk. Milk solidifies poop. Load him up. He'll be dropping solid poop bombs in no time. You'll frankly wonder if you'll be able to flush them. You might have to start keeping a butter knife by the potty to force them down the chute.

Give him milk. Trust me on this.
